REMODELING OF AN EXISTING BAKERY DISPLAY AND SALES AREA IN WAUWATOSA, WI.

Building on a rich tradition of quality baked goods, the new owners of Simma’s Bakery in Wauwatosa decided to update the physical appearance of the bakery and supported a fresh new design aesthetic that complements the products. The design concept is based on a largely monochromatic paint scheme that makes use of high contrast between design elements. Curved glass display cases are anchored by crisp, white cabinetry that forms the main service counter. The back-bar cabinetry is rendered in a dark gray color that provides contrast with the golden loaves of bread featured on its shelves. The clean aesthetic is reinforced by oversized polished chrome lighting fixtures over the service counter as well discreet lighting throughout.

Adjacent to the main sales area is a new display and showroom space for the bakery’s high-end wedding cake consulting services. This more intimate space takes on a different character from bright whites of the main sales area and is painted in a warm gray hue. A monumental glass chandelier creates a crystalline effect within the space.
